Manufacturer's Brand Overview: [Edit]
GURU Energy Drink is an energy supplement scientifically designed to invigorate health conscious minds who need to perform. Made from all-natural ingredients, GURU combines carefully chosen ingredients borrowed from ancient cultures around the world. Its active botanical complex is made from guarana, panax ginseng, ginkgo biloba and Echinacea. GURU delivers all the power of these four carefully selected herbal extracts, using them at their most effective levels. Its rigorous scientific approach to formula development has resulted in a perfect synergy of these proven elements. Moreover, all botanicals included in GURU are standardized, which guarantees the potency of the botanicals with scientific accuracy. GURU is the healthy energy drink that gives you the mental and physical boost you need: in the afternoon, at work, while studying, driving, before sports, or during times of stress or fatigue.

Superfruit
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
Given Guru's organic/natural focus, it's logical that they'd attempt a superfruit flavored energy drink. For Guru, that comes in the way of an acai, pomegranate and yumberry blend, which has been sweetened/flavored with organic cane juice, black currant juice, and white grape juice. It's bordering on being a fruit punch flavor, especially since the white grape flavor lingered a bit. That being said, we'd like to see the acai and pomegranate flavors be a bit more prominent. On the energy front, Guru Superfruit uses naturally derived caffeine (from the guarana seed extract) and herbal ingredients in the form of ginseng, ginko biloba, and Echinacea. Packaging looks attractive, using the newer design and a pink color scheme. Our only suggestion would be to emphasize "superfruit" above "juicy," mainly because the former is more marketable and the latter is implied anyway. Overall, a well executed addition to the lineup.

Green Tea Honey-Lemon
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
As far as energy drinks made with tea go, this is definitely a well executed product. The flavors starts out very much like an RTD tea and finishes cleanly with a dash of honey and lemon flavors. The lack of carbonation is a major plus, as is the use of organic cane juice as the sweetener. We're not sure how we feel about its USDA Organic certification, but maybe there are consumers looking for this. In any event, the product has a very nice look to it, with a bright green and yellow color palette that works nicely with the other flavors in the brand. It feels modern, hip, and attractive. Definitely a credible looking energy product. We really like it.

Lemonade
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
Being only one of a handful of USDA Organic Energy Drinks, Guru's Lemon-Lime energy drink is a pleasing product from both a taste and an appearance point of view. It's a non carbonated formulation flavored with actual lemon juice, resulting in a very natural tasting body. Sweetened with organic cane juice, the product is moderately sweet and finishes up with a mild herbal aftertaste. Packaging uses bright tones of blue and yellowish green, giving the product an attractive look that should definitely have broad appeal. It's a very original looking product, which is a major positive for any entry into the category. Overall, a job well done.

Tangerine
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
Made with 20% juice, this flavor is another great tasting product from Guru. On the other hand, this is the least original of the lineup, especially since juice based energy products are all the rage right now. If you've tried a juice energy hybrid product, this one isn't that much different in terms of its overall taste profile. However, it does drink more cleanly, which is likely due to the lack of carbonation and the use of organic cane juice. The packaging, on the other hand, feels like an original concept, blending an urban style with a bright, inviting color scheme. Overall, a good job from Guru, but we prefer the other varieties over this one.

Guru Lite
Category: Energy: Diet; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
Like Guru Original, Guru Lite has been given a reformulation -- and what a difference it makes. Using a blend of organic cane juice, stevia, and luo han guo juice, the product has a decent level of sweetness but also a decent amount of sweetener aftertaste. However, it's definitely better than your traditional aspartame or sucralose sweetened energy drink. Otherwise, there are pleasant notes of lemon and herbs/guarana, which gives the drink its natural energy. Our only complaint about the drink is the packaging, which feels inferior to the newer more colorful flavors. We'd love to see them unify the entire brand, starting with some punching up to this flavor.

Guru Energy Drink
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
It has been a while since we first tried Guru's classic energy drink and it has certainly been improved upon. The flavor is Guru's closest thing to a "traditional" energy drink, but it's hardly traditional in terms of flavor. Utilizing lemon juice concentrate, white grape juice concentrate, and cane juice as part of an organic formulation, Guru has a much more natural flavor than most mainstream entries. In addition, the product derives its caffeine exclusively from guarana seed extract (resulting in 97 mg of caffeine per serving). The silver, red and black can is modern-looking and attractive, especially when paired up with the rest of the Guru lineup. Overall, a significantly improved product.
