Cane Sugar NOT HFCS

If you remember what it's like to drink something with real sugar and not High Fructose Corn Syrup, this is it. You had to talk a swig and couldn't drink the whole thing because the sugar told you stomach to STOP. Great with BBQ! Slaw dogs or just to watch the game. Bold flavor, not watered down or weak. No bite.
Not everyone carries it, even in Louisiana.

It Sold Me

I'm not a fan of rootbeer, but this one won me over. Try it on a hot day, served in a frosted mug. Extra points if you've been walking the Garden District on a muggy day in June. Better yet, order two!

Got this on draught

The cane sugar really makes a difference. This has a nice high level sweetness, that is not over the top. The sassafras flavor has a nice bite.

Best Root Beer on the market

I'm glad I'm from Louisiana b/c it's so easy to find Abita Root Beer. I wish it was available everywhere.

Abita Root Beer: Abita Root Beer

Pretty good. It tastes a little like caramel. I have never had a root beer as good as old Frostie.

Yummy!

This is a very tasty root beer, quite unlike any other I've sampled. The taste is very clean and not heavy on the wintergreen (which I only like in birch beer). The cane sugar provides a pleasant bite and the carbonation level is just right. I'd prefer a higher intensity level of the same flavor (it failed the "float test"), which is why I didn't rate it higher. However, I'll definitely be buying more and would recommend it to other root beer lovers.
Definitely my favorite "non-creamy" root beer.

Better than their Beer

I think Abita's beers on average are not stellar, but their rootbeer is really good. I got this on draught at a greasy spoon and it went perfectly with the food. Great taste and mouthfeel, with a nice lasting finish.

Abita - the water helps!

I love this root beer. It is excellent, well done stuff, so is the beer!

Nice Taste

Fairly traditional root beer taste, but with a little extra zing to it. Very pure cane sugar after taste. Definitely above average root beer.
